View of Government

Josiah's core view of government stems from the philosophical belief that government's only source of power comes through the consent of the governed.  The foundational principles of our state and nation are rooted in the recognition of unalienable, God-given, natural rights of the individual - not government.

Josiah believes the primary function of your elected representative should be to ensure that centralized state government retains the least amount of political power possible. This approach would ensure the individual has the most direct access to policies which would affect their social, economic, and overall well-being.

Public Safety

Josiah believes we as Ohioans can walk and chew gum at the same time.  Our state should adopt a system that is tough on crime while ensuring fairness for formerly convicted individuals.

As your state representative, Josiah will champion policies which both ensure public safety for our community and overall fairness for individuals who have been involved with the justice system.

State Budgets and Spending

Over the past 4 budget cycles, Ohio's budgetary spending has steadily increased.

Ohioans have had to tighten their fiscal belts because of skyrocketing inflation and economic uncertainty. State government should be required to do the same.

As your representative, Josiah will stand up for responsible stewardship of citizen's tax dollars, ensuring every cent is allocated toward the most critical initiatives that empower the residents of Ohio's 3rd District.

Ohioans are hurting - Whether it's because of runaway inflation or skyrocketing gas prices.

Recently, the Ohio Senate considered a bill to lower the gas tax to 28 cents. Josiah would champion a bill to suspend the gas tax for a minimum of one year. In subsequent years, the gas tax would be slowly reimplemented (10c, 15c, 20c, 28c).  Josiah believes that if the average family in Ohio has been forced to make tough budgetary decisions due to economic uncertainty, state government should have to make similar difficult budgetary decisions.

Additionally, Josiah would champion policies to expand Ohio's energy excavation capabilities to its greatest potential. We must drive down energy costs and allow Ohioans to keep more of their hard earned money.

No Ohio family should be forced to choose between feeding their family or a full tank of gas.

Educational Reform

Josiah supports educational reforms which both empower parents to be in complete control of their child's education and equip each child with skillsets to be successful as they enter adulthood.

Policy Reform for Ohio's Disabled and Elderly Populations

The State of Ohio should conduct a review of all policies and procedures regarding the uniquely abled, the elderly, and our war heroes.

1.  State policies and assistive programs should be reformed to both provide necessary services to those in need and empower individuals to become equal citizens in Ohio.

2.  In order to incentivize population growth and stabilization, Ohio should consider policies which incentivize businesses to become completely accessible to all citizens.

Second Amendment

Throughout American history, firearms ownership has continued to serve as the American citizen's safeguard to life and liberty as well as the last line of defense against tyrannical government.

Josiah supports the textual embodiment of the natural right to self-defense found in the Second Amendment as held in DC v. Heller and McDonald v. City of Chicago.  As an Ohio legislator, Josiah would both defend and advance Ohio government's recognition of your individual right to keep and bear arms.

Protecting the Rights of the Unborn

Josiah believes that although physically connected and dependent until birth, the life of the mother and her child are uniquely separate. As such, the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness of the to-be-born American is of just as much value as those of us who have already been born.

Josiah believes that the protection of the vulnerable and innocent is essential to a civilized society. The true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable members.

As a legislator, Josiah would be a defender of life from the womb to the grave.
